CBI gets petition copies on Chandrababu Naidu's assets probe! PDF Print E-mail

Hyderabad, Nov 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today received the copies of the petition filed the High Court seeking investigation into the alleged illegal assets of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu during his tenureship as Chief Minister, by Pulivendula YSR Congress party legislator Y S Vijayamma.

CBI, Hyderabad Unit joint director V V Lakshminarayana went to the High Court along with some of his officers this morning and collected the copies, sources said.Mr Lakshminarayana later told newspersons that his agency would immediately launch the investigation as per the High court orders.''We will serve notices on all the respondents mentioned in the court orders,'' he said.A division bench of the High Court on November 14 had asked the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe the alleged illegal assets of Mr Naidu after hearing a writ petition filed by Ms Vijayamma,widow of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and mother of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, on October 17.In her petition, Ms Vijayamma had alleged that Mr Naidu had amassed wealth by misusing his political power. She said Mr Naidu had defrauded the state exchequer, and appealed to the court to probe it. Ms Vijayamma also alleged that many acts of criminal misconduct were committed during Naidu's tenure as Chief Minister from 1995 to 2004.The court directed the authorities to take into consideration the 2,424-page material supplied by the petitioner and to probe the issue.
