Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of students of Osmania University here today called for a shut down in Telangana on September 5 to press their demand for a proportional share for the region in the recruitment of Group-I service officers.

The preliminary examination for the recruitment of Group-I services is scheduled to be held on Sunday.

"We have three specific demands. One, the share of Telangana should be decided on the basis of population. Two, the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission should be removed. Three, rule of reservation should be followed from the stage of preliminary examination itself," Pidamarti Ravi, a leader of the OU students JAC, said.

The JAC claims that gross injustice has been done to Telangana in the recruitment of the Group-I service officers.Alleging that APPSC Chairman A Venkatram Reddy has been "corrupt" and also did injustice to Telangana, the JAC demanded his removal.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TRS and other people's groups have extended support to the bandh call.JAC Convener M Kodandaram told PTI that his committee wants that the APPSC Chairman be "kept aside" and the principle of reservation be applied from the stage of preliminary examination itself.
