students held for attack on teachers at OU campus PDF Print E-mail

Hyderabad: Four students, who were allegedly involved in the attack on teachers of Andhra and Rayalaseema region at the Osmania University campus here, were today arrested, police said.

The arrested Veera Babu, Jagan, Srinivas Goud and Saidulu are students pursuing different degree and PG courses at the Osmania University and are inmates of hostels at the OU campus, they said adding the accused were identified with the help of TV footage beamed on local channels.

"We have arrested four youths today and are on the look out for 10 others who were involved in the incident as they are still absconding and suspected to have fled from the city," a senior police officer said.All the four arrested were presented at the residence of a local magistrate in Secunderabad and were being send to judicial remand, he added.

It may be recalled that activists of the Telangana Students JAC allegedly chased and beat up teachers hailing from Andhra-Rayalaseema regions, while they were evaluating B Ed examination papers at the Osmania University on Saturday last.Osmania University police had registered criminal cases against the attackers.
